How Infinite Water Works in Sandustry

The documented Sandustry infinite water cycle is:

Snow → Heat → Steam → Rain or condensation → Water

Snow can be heated into Steam, and Water itself can also be heated into Steam. Steam rises. When it reaches the Sky, it condenses back into Water and falls as Rain. Blocks can influence the route Steam takes while it rises, so the layout needs an open upward path and a place to collect the returning Water.

The official Water page lists Rain from Steam as a Water source and connects that cycle to Cryoblaster-generated Snow. That extra Snow input is what makes the documented Cryoblaster route renewable instead of simply circulating Water that already exists.

Method 1: Cryoblaster, Snow, Steam and Rain

The Cryoblaster route is the clearest official answer to infinite Water. It does not require one fixed tank blueprint, but every working layout needs to handle the same three stages.

Generate Snow

Use the Cryoblaster to create Snow. The official Cryoblaster page states that the tool can generate Snow indefinitely, giving this method a renewable material input.

Turn Snow into Steam

Apply heat or Fire to the Snow so it becomes Steam. Keep enough open space above the heated material for the Steam to rise rather than immediately meeting an obstruction.

Recover Steam as Water

Give the Steam a route toward the Sky. Once it reaches the Sky, it condenses into Water and falls as Rain. Use Blocks to influence the rising route and leave a collection area below for the returning Water.

Direct Water-to-Steam Recycling

Existing Water can also be heated into Steam and recovered when that Steam returns as Rain. This is useful when you want to move Water through its state-change cycle or route it vertically.

The confirmed physics do not prove that every player-built tank creates a net gain in Water. A specific layout may recycle existing Water, while an additional renewable input such as Cryoblaster-generated Snow is what supports the officially documented infinite route. Exact build performance varies with the layout and is not established by the state-change mechanic alone.

Method 2: Lumlings

Steam is not returning as Water. Steam naturally rises, but Blocks and other obstructions affect its path. Check that the Steam can continue upward toward the Sky, then make sure there is open collection space for the returning Rain. A route that diverts or traps Steam will not behave like an unobstructed vertical path.
